Good Lil Gardener
Darci, you are a very good little gardener. These pics were taken a few weeks ago when we had our last frost. We had to cover 53 corn plants along with all our other plants. The cucumbers were the only plants not to survive. The corn has grown quite a bit since this, but Darci just worked so hard out there.
Rainy Sunday
We were surprised today by a visit from Mamaw. She came to look at the garden. It was kinda rainy most of the day but we got to go out and look for a little bit. All the green beans Darci planted last Sunday are up and look good. Bret had a wild day climbing on everything of course. Darci loves her new Hannah Montana stage. She hasn't stopped singing since we put it together. I'm having a little trouble getting my pictures resized to fit. I have a really good camera now but may have to get camera with more megapixels. Still trying to get all this figured out.
New Chicks
Today was an exciting day for Darci. Her chicken Nacho hatched out 9 new babies. I could only get a picture of a couple because Nacho is still a very protective mama. Darci is quite a good little farmer.
Beautiful Days
We had a good week. I finally got some more pictures of you and your baby chicks. We have spent most of the week outside. Darci I am so sorry sweety that you have been about getting rid of Daddy's truck. When we traded Daddy's truck for a car that gets better gas mileage you had just cried your little heart out on Wedneday and Thursday because you wouldn't be able to ride in the back. I promise we will get another, we just had to do this for now. Daddy won you a necklace out of a game at while waiting on me to check out. You would have thought it was real diamonds the way you have wore that necklace around. You just love being outside. Bret however still tries to eat everything so most of his time outside is spent in the playpen which does not make him happy.
Picnic
I know this is a second post today but I just had to add this. Daddy woke early this morning to start cooking one of his famous briskets. He cooks the best! Today was the most beautiful weather. We stayed outside from the time we got home from church to bathtime, and even then Darci had to go back out and "save the galaxy". Darci your imagination was on high today. We had the best picnic outside for dinner. Bret took a late nap out under the trees in his pack and play so he ate later. But we got everything ready and ate while watching The Lion King. Daddy worked very hard to get our TV wired for outside again. We just sat under our beautiful trees and enjoyed each other. Darci running from swingset to writing with side walk chalk, and Dad in the hammock. Bret and I propped back in a chair. Nonnie and Poppy came up to see us for a little bit. It was just wonderful to be all together and enjoying nature. We have the best place possible. Darci and Bret, I hope when you get older you remember all these memories we made under those trees. It is the most precious family time we have out there.
JP's Birthday
Happy Birthday Jace! Jace my nephew was 3 today. I had him and Kameron out for dinner tonight. We didn't have cake because I had already had 2 cake parties today. We just had roast with all the fixin's and let the kids play.
Mother's Day '08
Today was a great Mother's Day. Wilbur cooked all night last night to have pulled pork sandwiches with slaw and all the fixin's. Mom and Johnnie came over, and Katie and Bryan came in from Hot Springs. Kam came with Mom. We ate and let the kids have fun in the water. It was another perfect day out under our trees. Perfect weather for playing outside all day.
Garden
Monday evening has kinda turned into our most busy day in the garden. We do most of our work then. We planted two rows of okra tonight. Think most of the planting is over now. Dad, here are the pics you wanted. I even have one of Kameron's cabbage plant he started at school and asked me to help him take care of it.
Daddy's Birthday
Sunday was Daddy's birthday. Darci you did a really good job decorating Daddy's cake and woke up early Sunday singing and sang all day to Daddy. Bret really really loved the cake!! We went over to Nana's after cake and shopped and ate. She had Wilb's favorite pie. We had a good day. Darci also had lots of fun playing in Nana's flowers.
Beaver's Bend
A couple of weeks ago we got to go to one of Daddy's favorite places. Beaver's Bend on Broken Bow lake. Darci had her first paddle boat ride. Bret and I watched from the dock. It was so cute seeing them out there. Wilb said he sure needed and extra pair of legs paddling though. When he and Darci pulled back up tp the bank, a lady asked how do you know when your time is up. Wilb told her trust me you'll know.
Father's Day
Wilbur you are the best. I am so lucky to have you for our kids. We didn't get to do alot on Sunday because you had to work but we still had a great day. Darci always tells us we have the best family ever and she is so right.
Owa-Chito 2008
We went to the Owa-Chito Festival this weekend at Beaver's Bend in Broken Bow. Nonnie's cabin is a duplex that she and her sister Theresa share. This makes my 13th year to go. Wilb and his family have been going too many years to count. I didn't get a pic of the outside of the cabin, but it is very nice. The porch overlooks the river. The Owa-Chito is a very special trip for Wilbur because he has lots of memories with his Pa Nevels. They would go and fish and just enjoy spending time together. He wants Darci and Bret to have those same special memories.
Darci and Bret were styling in the wagon at the park and then over to the paddleboats and bumper boats. Thanks to Cannon for a great time.
This year Restless Heart was the headliner. Darci and Gage showed the rest of the crowd how to have fun. They danced and danced until they crashed. Oh and lots of good festival foods!!
Garden update
We have been getting so many good foods out of the garden. We had broccoli, cabbage, baby spinach earlier. We are still getting good cucumbers, tomatoes, squash, okra, corn, zuchinni and lots of peppers. We finally have carrots now too. Darci was so excited because we planted them so long ago and she has been waiting. The broccoli and carrots are her faves.
Brave Little Dog
My Baby Pebbles
She has had a horrible week. Pebbles is 7 years old and was my baby before I had babies. Wednesday night we were just chillin after church getting ready for bed and then we hear something on the porch. Pebbles, a much bigger dog, and one of his buddies were in an altercation. It was like nothing I had ever seen before. She was chewed up pretty good. A friend of Wilbur's came out that night and helped repair some of the damage and on Thursday we took her to see Dr. Bonner. He cleaned and stapled. I went and visited on Friday at lunch. I counted 37 staples on her neck and the wound on her stomach needed a drain so she is still in the hospital. I went to see her today again and she seems much better. She actually got up and walked out of the stall to see us. I think she was very happy to see Darci and Devyn. Hopefully we can bring her home on Monday. I added some pics below. Kinda graphic so be prepared.
Pebbles Update
I just left from visiting with Peebles. Dr. Bonner said he would have to do another procedure on her today and I wouldn't be able to bring her home for a couple more days. 2 inches of the wound on her neck has to be restitched. Part of the skin had died off and those staples would not hold it together anymore. She looked to be in ok spirits though. I know she wanted to go with me. I am going to try and go back before I go home and check on her after her surgery
Pebbles is Home
Just wanted everyone to know Pebbles got to come home on Tuesday afternoon. She is doing pretty good. Loves being babied and getting to stay in the AC. She is going to be even more spoiled after this is over if that is possible.
Duck Race
Our duck didn't win. We cheered him on as much as we could.
The Farm Keeps Growing
Piggy Sue and Sally
We have been so busy lately and just trying to rest up from camp. Starting tomorrow we have VBS. It's been kinda crazy. I have been meaning to blog all week about Piggy Sue and Sally. Piggy Sue is the red pig and Sally was the runt, she is the little pink pig. I need to get some new pics of them out in their new pen Wilb built today. These are from when we first got them home. I know this sounds crazy but they are super sweet. We were feeding Sally with a bottle but she is doing better and eating out of the pan with Piggy Sue now. It took us for ever to figure out their names. Piggy Sue is coming around. When you pick her up she will squeal like nothing you have ever heard. Sally loves to be picked up. Bindi thinks she is a pig now too. She loves to get in the pen with them. Darci says we have more animals for our farm. Poppy says all we need is a goat now. Don't think Wilb isn't looking. :) I love it.
Pine Tree Festival
In one word.....HOT!!!!!!
I got a few pics of the kids hanging out. One is of Darci, Cori and McKya waiting on the parade. Also got a few of Bret, Darci and Sydney playing at the concert.
Our New Office
We opened on October 6 down on Main St. We all love it. Dr. Ferguson had a great vision because if you had seen this before you would have never imagined this.
We have an upstairs too. It's not finished yet. Darci also has a little room she stays in on Tuesdays and Thursdays but for some reason I didn't get a pic of that.
Thanksgiving at Nana's
I didn't get very many pics of Darci. She spent all day outside with Randi and Lindsey playing. Daddy had to work. We are cooking him a turkey on Sunday for dinner at home.
Happy Birthday Devyn!
Devyn turned 12 on the 30th. I haven't been able to get my pics off my computer so I am a little late getting this posted. We love you Bubba!!
Our Anniversary
Sunday was our 8th Wedding Anniverary. We got to go out on Saturday to Texarkana and shop without any kids. We kept feeling lost without a stroller and without someone climbing over our shoulder when we ate. We got to go to Books-A-Million and just sit. It was alot of fun to get away. We did miss our babies though. Darci and I cooked for Daddy on Sunday so we could all have dinner together to celebrate.
What's Going On....
As many of you know I have started a new job this week. I started work at Crystal Falls Health and Rehab in DeQueen. I am working in the Business Office. I have had a great week so far with lots of new stuff. I have made several new friends. I will miss all my Nashville friends. I had worked in Nashville for almost 10 years so it was really different heading out of town in the opposite direction. Last week was our Farmer's Market Board meeting in Nashville and I talked to Cary and will get to stay on the Board. I was very happy about that. I also have been busy helping with the Dierks Chamber. We are getting ready for the Banquet. I am still taking online classes through the U of A and that is going good. I have been really really busy lately not counting Wilb working alot and my sweet babies. I have the BEST husband and kids in the world to be so patient with me while handling with all of this.
My Valentine's
Daddy took care of his babies for Valentine's this year. According to Darci and Bret he did a great job. I got a BlackBerry for my Valentine's gift this year and Wilb got a Delve.
